Your first meeting
Your journey to work kicks off at the first meeting. This is the start of a process of working together to help you to make decisions that will lead to new job options and positive changes in your life.
What to expect
Your first meeting is an opportunity for us to confirm if vocational rehabilitation services will assist you.
Sometimes a different level or type of service may be better suited to you, or you might need more medical services first. In many cases, the first meeting will be when an initial assessment is done.
One of our staff will explain the role of vocational rehabilitation and the people who will be involved in your service. They will take notes during your meeting to help record decisions made about your needs.
The stages in your journey to work will be explained and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
It is also a time for talking through and filling out forms. We will discuss how information about you can be shared and ask for your permission to do so.
Your rights, responsibilities and level of participation in your programme will be explained. There may be slight variations to what is needed, depending on who has referred you to CRS Australia and who is paying for your service.
At the end of the first meeting, we will decide with you on actions to complete and a time for your next appointment will be made.
What to bring
In preparation for your first meeting you can bring:
- resume or work history, if you have one
- a list of doctors, specialists and other health professionals who have been involved
- recent medical reports and medical certificates
- a friend/family member if you need help to provide information
- education/training documents.
Generally the person who referred you to CRS Australia will let us know if you need special arrangements such as an interpreter or wheelchair access.
