What is a senior rehabilitation consultant?
The senior rehabilitation consultant (SRC) is responsible for providing professional leadership and coaching to the local team.
CRS Australia’s service delivery teams operate in multi-disciplinary environments employing rehabilitation consultants, employment services consultants, rehabilitation officers, administrative services officers and regional managers. The role of the senior rehabilitation consultant is to ensure that the local team is able to deliver quality disability management services.
The role of a senior rehabilitation consultant (SRC) often involves:
- implementing comprehensive quality assurance processes, including case reviews, to ensure the team delivers high quality professional services which meet required standards
- coaching and mentoring service delivery staff in relation to service delivery, promoting individual responsibility and positive team behaviour
- maintaining effective external relationships with the organisation’s purchasers and community partners including: employers, employment service providers, JCA providers, insurers, WorkCover agents and government agencies to achieve and improve business outcomes
- maintaining strong internal relationships which primarily focus on regional service delivery staff but may also extend to divisional and national function staff.
The senior rehabilitation consultant (SRC) also provides case management services in line with client/job seeker and customer needs, organisational policies and procedures and established quality requirements.
The senior rehabilitation consultant (SRC) may undertake a range of other agreed operational management functions including some staff management.
Senior rehabilitation consultants come from a diverse range of allied health backgrounds including:
- psychology
- rehabilitation counselling
- occupational therapy
- physiotherapy
- social work
- speech pathology
- exercise physiology
- or an equivalent qualification in behavioural or health sciences as recognised by an appropriate professional body.
