Strong partnership creates safe workplaces
The National Native Title Tribunal assists people to facilitate timely and effective native title outcomes.
It is an Australian Government agency and is part of the Attorney-General's portfolio.
The Tribunal has 180 staff spread over seven offices located in Cairns, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne.
The Tribunal wanted to reduce its increasing insurance premium cost and the rising unscheduled absences of its workers.
David Brown, Senior Human Resources Advisor, National Native Title Tribunal, said, 'Our task was to find better ways of managing early intervention and return to work options that met our needs and provided boundaries, roles and responsibilities for employees and managers.
'We couldn't have done this without CRS Australia. They've listened to us and provided a program that works across all sites across the country.'
'We trialled a number of providers in Perth and without trying to select a preferred provider, one began to stand out as resourceful, professional, able to deliver on time and willing to listen to what we wanted.
'CRS Australia was that provider, and since 2007, we have had an ongoing partnership using them exclusively for our needs,' Mr Brown said.
CRS Australia and the Tribunal have built a national collaborative partnership to reduce the costs associated with work and non-work related injury.
CRS Australia provides specialist consultancy services including ergonomic and workplace assessment services, and injury management services, which involves working closely with doctors and treating health professionals when developing return to work programs.
The outcomes of the Tribunal's commitment to a healthy and safe work environment have been substantial.
Mr Brown said, 'Over the last three years our OHS procedures have led to us being able to return employees to work earlier, resulting in a 30 per cent reduction in loss time injury rate. We have saved a huge amount of money in workers compensation costs per annum, which is really significant for a small agency.'
'We couldn't have done this without CRS Australia. The customer service they provide has been second to none. They've listened to us and provided a program that works across all sites across the country,' he said.
