Vic/Tas businesses rewarded for diversity and safety
Four businesses from Victoria and one business from Tasmania won CRS Australia Employer Awards last night, for their outstanding commitment to disability employment and workplace safety. These businesses were presented their awards by CRS Australia’s General Manager, Margaret Carmody, and Vic/Tas Divisional Manager, Denise Frederick, at the 2010 Victoria and Tasmania Employer Awards ceremony held at Federation Square in Melbourne.

In the disability employment category, winning employers are selected based on their creativity, innovation and commitment to providing training and employment opportunities for people with a disability, injury or health condition.
For the injury prevention category, winners are selected based on their outstanding commitment to providing a safe work environment for their employees.
Denise Frederick, Vic/Tas Divisional Manager, CRS Australia, said, ‘We acknowledge those employers who see the ability and capability of our job seekers. In looking beyond disability, illness or injury they are rewarded with loyal, committed employees who can provide the workforce capability required.
‘We also recognise and acknowledge those employers who have increased their commitment to workplace safety – this provides enormous benefits to your business.
‘The partnership between employers, job seekers and CRS Australia enables success for individuals, for business and the broader community. We thank employers for their ongoing support,’ added Ms Frederick.

Adelaide employer a diversity winner

Scan Conversion Services (SCS) has won a 2009 Diversity@Work Award for its commitment to providing employment opportunities to people with a disability.
SCS was presented its award by the CEO of World Vision, Reverend Tim Costello, at a Gala Dinner in Melbourne last night.
The Diversity@Work Awards recognise and reward the efforts of individuals, teams and organisations who encourage diversity and inclusion in their workplace.
SCS is a scanning bureau operating throughout Australia and New Zealand and has been delivering highly effective document and drawing management solutions for ten years.

SCS was nominated for the award by vocational rehabilitation services provider, CRS Australia. The equal opportunity employer, SCS, has partnered with CRS Australia since April 2008 and is benefiting from reduced absenteeism and staff disagreement, greater flexibility in the hours SCS can operate, higher quality of work and great innovation. There are currently 15 people with disability working with SCS.
Richard Bates, Managing Director for SCS, explains, ‘…People who have come to us through CRS Australia are hardworking, motivated, and have in turn helped us develop the safest possible work environment for everyone through workplace safety initiatives’.
Margaret Carmody, General Manager, CRS Australia, said, ‘By SCS providing job opportunities for people with disability, many lives have been changed. These job seekers achieve independence, increased confidence and satisfaction, financial benefits and opportunities to learn.
‘SCS has trained and employed 35 people with varying types of disabilities which clearly demonstrates its outstanding commitment to the employment of people with disability.

Businesses recognised for workplace diversity

Eight employers who have shown excellence in workplace diversity have been nominated by CRS Australia for a 2009 Diversity@Work Award.
These employers are committed to offering employment opportunities to CRS Australia job seekers with a disability, injury or health condition. Six employers have been nominated in the 'Employment and inclusion – people with a disability' category, one in the 'Employment and inclusion of Indigenous Australians' category and Tracey Crump from the ACT Chief Minister’s Department, has been nominated for an individual champion award.
Margaret Carmody, General Manager, CRS Australia, said, 'These employers are to be congratulated for demonstrating a real commitment to the employment of people with a disability, injury or health condition.
'Many employers across the country understand and value the skills and commitment a person with disability can bring to their workforce.
'I congratulate the nominees and recognise all the employers we work with for helping our job seekers to achieve their goals, fulfil their potential and contribute to their community,' Ms Carmody said.

NSW workplaces rewarded for diversity and safety

Eleven NSW businesses who have demonstrated a commitment to providing training and employment opportunities for people with disability have been recognised at this year’s CRS Australia NSW/ACT Employer Awards.

Winning employers ranging from large corporations to small local businesses integrated CRS Australia job seekers into their businesses through a flexible and supportive partnership that has reaped benefits for all parties.
Margaret Carmody, General Manager, CRS Australia, says, ‘Taking on a job seeker from CRS Australia is positive for everyone – it means that businesses obtain enthusiastic job seekers who have been carefully matched to the job. It also means the job seeker achieves their goals, fulfils their potential and contributes to the local community. The positive benefits of work are life changing’.
Two businesses were also recognised for their outstanding commitment to providing a safe work environment for their employees.
