Lizz gives new hope

When Lizz saw a job advertised for an employment services consultant (ESC) with CRS Australia in Queensland, she knew she had to get it.

She says she was drawn to the role because of its focus to help people with a disability get back to work.

‘I saw this as a way to help people become contributing members of society and saw that as a really soul fulfilling role that fit with my morals, values and my ideas of life,’ she said.

As an ESC, Lizz uses her strong relationships and knowledge of local employers, community groups and external agencies to find suitable employment for job seekers.

She also plays an important role in supporting the job seeker towards their job goal by equipping them with the tools and resources to search for a job independently.

Lizz says, ‘It’s exciting meeting employers and exploring their job roles with them. It’s exhilarating matching the right job seeker with the right job. And it’s inspiring to see the difference your positivity and enthusiasm can have on people who may have lost theirs for a little while.’

Lizz’s passion for people, her honest and caring persona, and her lasting optimism has helped many job seekers find new hope and achieve work goals they perhaps thought were impossible.

‘When a job seeker’s with me it’s all about moving forward and focusing on positive thoughts for the future. There are job seekers that come to us very rudderless and I believe CRS Australia can help them find direction again,’ she says.

Educating employers is another part of her role. ‘Many employers simply do not know or do not understand the great non-financial benefits that come from hiring a job seeker with a disability.

‘The benefit for an employer working with CRS Australia is that we’re about jobs. And because we know the labour market and our job seekers so well, we can match the right person to their business.

‘It’s an amazing feeling meeting with an employer who has hired a person with a disability and finds them to be one of the best people they have ever employed.’
