Job Capacity Assessment
To access specialist vocational rehabilitation services job seekers with significant employment barriers are required to have a Job Capacity Assessment (JCA) in most instances. This ensures that job seekers get access to the most appropriate service for their individual needs as quickly as possible.
CRS Australia is one of a range of Government and private agencies providing Job Capacity Assessments.
What is a Job Capacity Assessment?
A Job Capacity Assessment identifies a person's ability to work and any barriers that may prevent them from getting and/or keeping a job.
This assessment will determine the most appropriate service to suit the job seeker and refer them directly to the relevant employment assistance agency or support service. A JCA is also used to determine income support payments.
There are a range of Government funded employment and related services for people with a disability, injury or health condition including vocational rehabilitation, the Disability Employment Network, Disability Specialist Job Network Services and the Personal Support Programme.
CRS Australia is the Australian Government provider of vocational rehabilitation services.
Who needs a Job Capacity Assessment?
People who wish to access a specialist employment service such as vocational rehabilitation require a Job Capacity Assessment.
This includes:
- job seekers claiming the Disability Support Pension (DSP) from 1 July 2006 or those who are having their DSP reviewed
- job seekers claiming or receiving Centrelink payments with identified barriers to employment
- job seekers such as parents and mature age people seeking employment.
People may also be referred from another employment service provider, such as the Job Network, where barriers to work have been recognised.
What does a Job Capacity Assessment mean for me?
Job seekers will have a JCA to determine the most appropriate Australian Government funded employment assistance program for their individual needs.
Where the assessment determines a need for vocational rehabilitation, the job seeker may be referred to, or choose to go to, CRS Australia.
