What is an employment services consultant?
Employment services consultants use their strong relationships and knowledge of local employers, community groups and external agencies to find suitable employment for job seekers or clients.
In my job I'm able to contribute to so many successes - getting job seekers back to work, helping employers find the right staff and teaming with colleagues who, like me, truly believe in making a difference.Ucki, Employment Services Consultant, Sydney
CRS Australia’s employment services consultants actively canvass and promote the benefits of placing our job seekers with employers.
As employment specialists, they keep up-to-date with local training, the local labour market and relevant disability programmes.
Employment services consultants can run group sessions with job seekers and provide on-site training for job seekers to maximise the success of a placement.
A strong emphasis is placed on providing job seekers with the tools and resources to search for a job independently. This could include providing them with skills in:
- job search training
- resume preparation
- interview coaching
- developing applications
- interview presentation
- understanding employer expectations.
Once the job seeker has been placed in employment, there may be an ongoing role for the employment services consultant in maintaining contact with the workplace and monitoring the job seeker in work.
Employment Services Consultants are generally appointed as APS Level 4 or APS Level 5. See the 2004-2008 salary scales for the management and support staffing stream.
