Employers benefit from training program

11 May 2006

Local employers looking for innovative recruitment methods are taking advantage of a work training program.

The program is a cost effective way for local businesses to match employees to their business needs. It gives them access to a large group of skilled and motivated job seekers, which in turn leads to a more diverse workplace.

The program is offered by CRS Australia, an organisation specialising in helping people with a disability, injury or health condition to get and keep a job. Each year, a large number of local employers take advantage of the work training program and are delighted with the results. Professional support is offered throughout the training and the trainee’s workers compensation is covered.

‘The work training program allows the employer to train and assess the job seeker on the job, obligation free, with the opportunity to recruit when the training period is over’, says Wendy Symons, CRS Australia Regional Manager for South West Sydney.

‘It also provides job seekers with an opportunity to gain experience, training and confidence in the workplace. It’s a win-win situation for the business and job seeker’, she said.

Cabramatta Motor Body Repairers Pty. Ltd. is one local business who has enjoyed the benefits of the training program.

Director Frank D’Agostino has provided work experience to CRS Australia job seekers in all areas of the business including administration, cleaning, car detailing, panel beating and general maintenance.

‘The work training program is a great opportunity to take on job seekers to teach them new skills on-site and to see how they manage the role’, says Mr D’Agostino.

‘The program has connected me to some really skilled, motivated and loyal staff who’ve become an asset to our business’, he said.

Many job seekers who have participated in a work training with Cabramatta Motor Body Repairers have got a job with the company, while others are equipped with the skills and confidence to move on to jobs or further training opportunities elsewhere.
