Disability doesn't matter

Employer from Deane's Buslines with worker

Over the past eight years, Deane's Buslines, based in Queanbeyan, New South Wales, has employed 22 CRS Australia job seekers.

Deane's employed their first CRS Australia job seeker, Rob, in 1998. He is still with the company and has firmly established himself as a permanent and valuable member of the team.

`CRS Australia matched the job to my skills and abilities. They sent me to Deane's to have a look around and I've never looked back. I've been very happy in the job ever since,' says Rob.

Deane's and CRS Australia have developed a strong partnership over the years. When a job opportunity arises, Deane's approaches CRS Australia for job seekers who would be suited to the position available. Similarly, when a job seeker shows an interest in bus driving or a related area, CRS Australia call Deane's to explore options for work experience or employment.

Deane's has introduced a system whereby a job seeker who is interested in becoming a bus driver spends two weeks shadowing an experienced bus driver. This gives the job seeker the opportunity to confirm their interest in the job and that it meets their needs, while Deane's is able to observe the job seeker's work ethic and ability to learn.

If bus driving appeals and the job seeker is suitable, they undertake three weeks' work experience, which includes obtaining a bus driver's licence.

Bus driving is not the only option for employment at Deane's. CRS Australia job seekers have also been employed in their office in various positions such as supervisor and receptionist.

Steve, the Group General Manager at Deane's, says, `CRS Australia job seekers are loyal, dedicated employees. They are happy to have the job and the flexible hours suit their conditions.'

`Disability doesn't matter, as long as they can do the job,' says Steve.
