CRS Australia's new drop-in area for job seekers in Oakleigh

1 August 2008

Senator the Hon Joe Ludwig, Minister for Human Services, officially opened CRS Australia's relocated Oakleigh office today.

David Waters, CRS Australia's Regional Manager for Melbourne South said the new office will give people in Victoria's Melbourne South region better access to vocational rehabilitation services; a program combining rehabilitation with employment assistance.

'The new office has a drop-in area for job seekers, including internet access, that allows them to search for jobs at a time that suits them,' said Mr Waters.

'An increase in training rooms will also facilitate more group programs and interventions to support job seekers in their rehabilitation and search for work.

'The Oakleigh team had already assisted over 90 local job seekers with significant barriers to find employment in the past 12 months.

'CRS Australia has strong links with the local community, including local employers, health organisations and Centrelink, to ensure Oakleigh's vocational rehabilitation needs are met.

'Employers can access a diverse pool of potential employees who are skilled, motivated and ready to join their business immediately. Work training placement is a great way for job seekers to gain skills and for employers to access new staff. Post-placement support and expert advice on available workplace modifications and government subsidies are also available,' Mr Waters said.

In addition to vocational rehabilitation services the Oakleigh office provides hundreds of Job Capacity Assessments each year, return to work programs and injury prevention services such as manual handling training.

'CRS Australia has an expert team of consultants who work with people to help them understand their strengths, obtain new skills and build on their confidence so they are ready to enter employment and live independently.'

Residents in Oakleigh, Huntingdale, Carnegie and other surrounding areas will benefit from the services delivered by national provider CRS Australia, who has over 65 years experience helping people get back to work.

CRS Australia is the largest national provider of vocational rehabilitation with around 160 offices throughout rural and regional areas dedicated to help people with a disability, injury or health condition to find or keep a job.
