CRS Australia wins prestigious platinum knowledge award

26 October 2005

CRS Australia is now nationally recognised as an outstanding knowledge organisation. The organisation's pursuit of excellence in the area of knowledge sharing was recognised at a national awards ceremony in Canberra on 26 October 2005.

The actKM Knowledge Awards are presented annually to Public Sector organisations that achieve business improvements via knowledge-related initiatives or projects.

'Receiving the award was a real thrill,' says Pat McLeod, recent Manager, Innovative Strategies. 'Since 1997, CRS Australia has greatly facilitated the transfer of knowledge across our organisation through the Networks of Excellence (NoE) program.'

'The platinum award is the highest level of recognition on offer,' says Pat. 'It is awarded when initiatives like the NoE program are delivering cross-organisational benefits through both cultural and technology improvements. The platinum level has only been awarded once before.'

CRS Australia's NoE program aims to capture, improve and share expertise across a highly skilled team of allied health professionals and support staff.

'The NoE program provides the opportunity for CRS Australia staff to link with their peers across a geographically dispersed network, and share good practice,' says Robyn Andersen, former Manager of Innovative Strategies from 1997-2003, and now North Queensland regional manager. 'With around 2000 staff delivering case management services to people with a vast array of injuries, disabilities and health conditions, it's a great vehicle for knowledge sharing. Ultimately, it improves our service delivery. It is a real inspiration to work with CRS Australia staff during their time on a NoE.'

This impact was recognised by actKM, an organisation dedicated to building and sharing knowledge in the public sector, and distributor of four national awards this year.

Margaret Carmody, CRS Australia's acting General Manager, was delighted to accept the award at the ceremony.

'The actKM Platinum Knowledge Award is an achievement for all of us to value highly,' says Margaret. 'It provides an opportunity to recognise the significance of the NoE program and the dedication of so many staff who contribute to knowledge sharing every day.'

The actKM Forum is a not-for-profit learning community dedicated to building and sharing knowledge about public sector knowledge management, and contributing to improved public sector performance through effective management of knowledge and information resources. It aims to provide an environment where members can create and share knowledge about both public and private sector knowledge management issues.
