9 October 2008

The Western Australia division of CRS Australia has announced the winners of its WA Employer Awards 2008.

Eight employers have been recognised at the 2008 awards, six for their creativity, innovation and willingness to enable CRS Australia job seekers to gain and maintain employment, and two employers for demonstrated workplace safety initiatives. They are:

  • Actlabs Pacific, Redcliffe
  • Arrix, Osborne Park
  • Distinctive Ceilings, Canning Vale
  • Intiga Security Servcies, Hamilton Hill
  • Main Roads WA
  • Department of Agriculture and Food WA
  • Navsec Security Training Services, Malaga
  • Redlion Bus & Coach, Esperance

CRS Australia is the country's largest provider of vocational rehabilitation and assessment services to people with a disability, injury or health condition, and provider of injury prevention services to employers.

Each year thousands of employers, small and large, partner with CRS Australia to find motivated, hardworking staff to fit the business's unique requirements and seek expert workplace safety services.

CRS Australia''s WA Employer Awards recognise those employers in Western Australia who have shown exceptional commitment to people with disabilities and those who have developed a safe work environment through workplace safety initiatives.

Minister for Human Services, Senator Joe Ludwig, said employers who give all people an opportunity to work deserve to be recognised.

'I congratulate the recipients of the WA Employer Awards, who are rewarded everyday seeing people who otherwise wouldn't have been given a chance, fulfil their potential in the workforce,' Senator Ludwig said.

Peter Davies, WA Divisional Manager of CRS Australia, said job seekers with a disability had plenty to offer.

'What we find is that job seekers who have been out of the workforce through injury, or who have a disability, are some of the most dedicated, enthusiastic and reliable employees around. They sometimes just need a little extra help in the workplace and some tailored training.'

Since July last year, CRS Australia has placed over 12,400 Australian job seekers with a disability into work.

'This is a great achievement. And these awards are a way for us to congratulate and thank our valued employers for their continued support and dedication to hiring people with disability, as well as to acknowledge those employers who work towards developing safe work environments,' Peter said.
