Adelaide employer a diversity winner

Scan Conversion Services (SCS) has won a 2009 Diversity@Work Award for its commitment to providing employment opportunities to people with a disability.
SCS was presented its award by the CEO of World Vision, Reverend Tim Costello, at a Gala Dinner in Melbourne last night.
The Diversity@Work Awards recognise and reward the efforts of individuals, teams and organisations who encourage diversity and inclusion in their workplace.
SCS is a scanning bureau operating throughout Australia and New Zealand and has been delivering highly effective document and drawing management solutions for ten years.

SCS was nominated for the award by vocational rehabilitation services provider, CRS Australia. The equal opportunity employer, SCS, has partnered with CRS Australia since April 2008 and is benefiting from reduced absenteeism and staff disagreement, greater flexibility in the hours SCS can operate, higher quality of work and great innovation. There are currently 15 people with disability working with SCS.
Richard Bates, Managing Director for SCS, explains, ‘…People who have come to us through CRS Australia are hardworking, motivated, and have in turn helped us develop the safest possible work environment for everyone through workplace safety initiatives’.
Margaret Carmody, General Manager, CRS Australia, said, ‘By SCS providing job opportunities for people with disability, many lives have been changed. These job seekers achieve independence, increased confidence and satisfaction, financial benefits and opportunities to learn.
‘SCS has trained and employed 35 people with varying types of disabilities which clearly demonstrates its outstanding commitment to the employment of people with disability.
‘I congratulate SCS for helping our job seekers to achieve their goals, fulfil their potential and contribute to their community,’ said Ms Carmody.
CRS Australia, formerly known as the Commonwealth Rehabilitation Services, is part of the Australian Government Department of Human Services and provides vocational rehabilitation and assessment services to people with a disability, injury or health condition and provides recruitment, injury prevention and injury management services to employers.
